Excited to present my MScRes project as a poster (39) at #CoimbraSeabirds this evening - using DNA Metabarcoding of buccal and cloacal swabs in combination with Stable Isotope Analysis to study adult guillemot diet on Puffin Island 🧬 🐟 🐧 Come and say hi! 👋🏼 The Seabird Group

Always great to see critically endangered White-spotted guitarfish hanging around at Heron Island Research Station. Just one of the many amazing animals students were exposed to during their Capstone projects. Despite looking very sharky, these animals are actually rays! Griffith Science & Environment

Just found this out🦈 Lufthansa have used shark skin technology on their Boeing 777F freighter fleet since 2023 to reduce drag by 1% for 10 planes = saving 4,000 tons of kerosene and almost 13,000 tons of CO2 emissions

The most interesting finding was the apparent energetic advantage of ambush hunting compared to cursorial hunting as carnivores become larger. Body-mass standardised biomass kill rates decline as ambush hunters get larger BUT increase for cursorial hunters. 10/n
