I think it was just the timing of it coming out after Tennocon. Huge surge of players back to the game, and they likely expected more juice from the squeeze than they got from Lotus Eaters. It's hard to do, but I'd totally put a chunky update following Tennocon.

I just realized Xbox missed the biggest multi-platorm and likely GOTY releases in back to back years. Baldur's Gate 3 and now Black Myth Wukong.

I think we are going to see a major shift in opinion between game critics and public reception the same way we do with movies. The consistency isn't the same yet, but outliers are becoming more common. I think Black Myth Wukong and a few others are great examples of it.

Nobody builds $500 PCs for gaming. They build $1500+ PCs because their an enthusiast and want access to all games rather than being relegated to platform exclusives and locked frame rates.

Concord's reputation is toast. There is no reason to release it F2P and incur more costs on the side of infrastructure. Abort mission, do more research, and come back stronger with something players want to play.
