Was asked to answer discussion post questions for class with gifs and memes. Made me start thinking of other ways I can engage my students in online teaching this fall. Thoughts? #onlineteaching #AcademicTwitter #HiEDPopCult

I will also be co-presenting a paper w/Alicia A. Moreno, PhD & Lesley Rivas - Moving Beyond “Men, Males, and Men of Color” in Higher Education. This paper seeks to complicate & interrogate the ways dominant hegemonic masculinity plagues our research and practices. #ASHE21

So excited to share my research at the #ASHE21 conference! 🎉 My collaborators said it best, “We never really graduate from being first-gen.” Our first-gen identity matters and influences how we navigate our educational journey. #FirstGenPride #LatinxPride #PhDJourney

Consider donating to support the Monarch Program! Our students need funding for program services, scholarships, and emergency funding. Your donations will directly impact undocumented students at UT Austin #UT40for40 #HookEm #undocumented #HereToStay

🧮 While the UT Austin administration has been stonewalling, we’ve been counting. Most of the 6️⃣3️⃣ laid-off staff are women & people of color. The 1️⃣4️⃣ demoted administrators are all from underrepresented backgrounds. 11 are people of color, 6 are women. 7️⃣7️⃣ giant steps 🔙ward.

🧮 Our estimates of the 63 staff fired from their @utaustin positions are that they are 8% Asian, 32% Black, 21% Hispanic, and 30% White. 63% are women, 24% are men, and 13% are trans/non-binary. Clearly this purge had a *disparate impact* with respect to both gender and
