Artistic Director of the American Cinematheque (and to a somewhat lesser extent, my good friend), Grant Moninger, introing 'The Panic in Needle Park' at the Egyptian Theater yesterday. 'People who DON'T like depressing movies are weird. Not us.'

Today at the Aero Theater, 3pm, the downright filthiest movie of Bleak Week unravels onscreen. Aleksei German's 'Hard To Be a God'. For anyone who saw 'Khrustalyov, My Car' last year and thought, 'What if this guy made a movie that was absolutely covered in blood, mud, and shit?'

It was a huge honor and a great screening at our home theater , the Los Feliz 3. Thanks to Jim Hemphill and everyone who showed up!
