Enforced disappearance has frequently been used as a strategy to spread terror. People need security and to live without fear. Families need answers for their missing loved ones. We must never stop pursuing justice for all, everywhere.

We need to do more in the international community at this time of extreme need in Sudan and Chad. Humanitarian response saves lives: For refugees, For internally displaced persons, For women and children, and For all those who need a lifeline.

With our dedicated teams and partners, we expressed the United Nations’s commitment to continue to serve and deliver to those who are facing increasing humanitarian needs, as well as the host communities who in their generosity have sacrificed so much.

Over 600,00 refugees, mostly women and children, have fled from Sudan to Chad since April 2023. In Adré, alongside the border of Chad and Sudan, I met with refugees who have endured hardship after hardship, yet still remain hopeful in the face of the dark clouds of war.
