President Erdogan fired the last truly independent Governor of Turkey's central Bank - Naci Ağbal - in Mar. '21. That was a disastrous decision, forcing Turkey to keep interest rates extremely high to prevent a collapse in the Lira. Turkey is a currency crisis waiting to happen.
