The Deputy Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E Abdihakim Ashkir today led the Governance Assessment of the National Identity System in Somalia. With the aim of providing a comprehensive assessment of the current digital identity system.

H.E Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh) opened the Consultative Workshop on Country-Level Assessment of the Governance Framework for National Identity and Digital Public Infrastructure in Somalia. In attendance, Federal Member States, United Nations Representatives and other National Institutions.

1/2 The 2-day Consultative Workshop on Somalia's Governance Framework for National Identity & Digital Public Infrastructure wrapped up in #Mogadishu. The workshop is part of a joint mission being conducted by NIRA and UNDP to lay the foundation for Somalia's Digital ID ecosystem.

2/2 Opened by UNDP Somalia Deputy Resident Representative, Dr. Christopher Laker, diverse public & private stakeholders discussed country case studies, global digital identity trends and the importance of data protection in digital ID systems, as well as identity gaps in Somalia.

1/3 Today, NIRA & UNDP Somalia held a donor debriefing session in Nairobi which focused on the preliminary findings of a recent joint NIRA-UNDP mission. The meeting chaired by H.E. Abdihakim Hassan Ashkir, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs & Rec, alongside NIRA DG Abdiweli Timacade.
