Baseball managers seem to wait for something bad to happen (giving up a few hits in a row) before making a pitching change. Wonder if there’s data showing the change should happen sooner 🤔

Never actually watched an England match and come away impressed. Always less than the sum of their parts. Southgate sets them up so conservatively.

For anyone interested in what goes into the MBAPPE model, I'm going to echo the about section here! MBAPPE (Multi-League Bayesian Adjusted Penalized Plus-Minus Estimate) is a Bayesian RAPM with SPM prior. What is that? Thread Below📝 (1/10)

You know how with heatmaps we often compare values to the league avg to better highlight unique patterns? Recently I was working on new data viz tools & got the idea to try it for pass nets too. Still needs work but some cool results already - check out De Zerbi's before & after:

Are longer possessions better at generating xG? 🤔 When looking at all possessions, whether they include a shot or not, longer possessions usually lead to more xG But when looking only at possessions that have shots, xG per poss. tops out at ~ 10-19 passes before decreasing
