Thanks to baby number 2 (and Michael Ferguson 🧠🕊) I get to investigate the only true meaning of the acronym “DBS” one more time. 🥰
Stimulating Brains Amaza Reitmeier Medtronic Excellent interview Andreas Horn . Really enjoyed the conversation with Amaza Reitmeier. Congratulations to both.
Use FGATIR, EDGE, LAMA, or other T1 inv images? Wish you could get them all in 1 scan? Introducing ingenious work by Vishal Patel streamlining our synthetic T1 inversion work into real-time viz tool! See new publication below & link to download in 🧵

Fantastic in human patch work using Yangfan Peng’s genius ‘octapatch’ system. Landmark pub to understand human cortex.
Timely re news of BRAIN funding cut: this work shows (again) how different a human cortex is to the one of rodents.
We need in human work to move forward!
Super cool preprint paper by Julian Neumann, Thomas S. Binns & ICNeuromodulation Charité! Answering many important open questions in the field with strong data 👇👇
Preprint ⚠️ Dopamine modulates the hyperdirect pathway!
Everything you need to know about corticosubthalamic communication and it's modulation by #dopamine and #DBS presented by Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin and BCCN Berlin student Thomas S. Binns of ICNeuromodulation Charité!
New collaborative Retune – CRC TRR 295 lead by PD Julian Neumann and spearheaded by Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin BCCN Berlin PhD student Thomas S. Binns! Invasive pathway interrogation of cortex-basal ganglia coupling in Parkinson's disease.
But it can be hard to judge pathways based solely on neurophysiology, so we corroborated our hypotheses with the help of Ningfei Li & Andreas Horn using their MRI connectomics approach. High-beta coupling indeed correlated with hyperdirect pathway fiber count.
I had a lot of fun and learned a ton talking to Amaza Reitmeier from Medtronic on Stimulating Brains – tune in here:
I am so thrilled to join the 2024 PD Soros Fellows cohort! So grateful to my family, friends, and mentors who helped me to be where I am today.
