It was lovely to be at Holy Trinity Kendal this morning for one of this year’s Diocese of Carlisle’s Leavers’ Services accompanying Year 6 Beetham CE Primary School. A joy to see the Year 6 from GrangeCESchool, bringing back many fond memories of my time there! Carlisle Diocese Board of Education The Church of England

Always good to be in Carlisle Cathedral at Petertide to remember my own ordinations and to pray for the life of the Church of God in every place and time, called to declare the wonderful works of him who has called us into light and life. For his mercies aye endure… Alleluia!

Today is the day. In some countries people don’t get this opportunity or freedom to vote. Some are fighting for peace, democracy, equality and safety. The opportunity to walk into a polling station unhindered by war, intimidation or the impact of weather events is our right.

On election day, remember to vote and remain prayerful – giving thanks that democracy means we all have a say in how our United Kingdom is governed. #PrayYourPart 🗳️

A good psalm for today. #GeneralElection2024 ‘Who is like the Lord our God, that has his throne so high, yet humbles himself to behold, the things of heaven and earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ashes.’ Psalm 113.5-6

Beginning the day with prayer in the Oratory St Columba's House. Send your holy angels to watch over us, O God, that on our lips will be found your truth and in our hearts your love; so we may ever taste your goodness in the land of the living; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Good to remember Saint James today St Columba's House on the second full day of this week’s The Church of England Discernment Panel. Praying that, like him, we may be ready at all times to answer the call of Christ without delay. Alleluia. Amen.

This tiny piece of papyrus is the earliest biblical fragment held in the Bodleian. It is more than 1,800 years old, just after 150AD. It contains a fragment of the Acts of the Apostles, and is considered one of the earliest witnesses to the original text of the New Testament.
