Almost impossible to describe how great it feels to get into Wisden, albeit as a lowly writer rather than cricketer. And the launch dinner for the almanack at Lords was amazing: so many legends. A night I'll never forget. Just wish I hadn't gushed quite so much at David Gower

A career highlight - privileged to write the books of the year feature for Wisden Almanack. Almost impossible to pick the 'best', but I could pick my favourite - Scott Oliver's Sticky Dogs and Stardust - a wonderful account of the world stars who played league cricket.

A mildly amusing game - randomly turn on BBC Radio 4 extra and try to guess the year (or even the decade) of the current programme. 'Say the Word' with Frank Delaney on now. I guessed 1997. Mrs McG thought 1987. 2001. But interesting how dated everything sounds. Dated and better.
