5,000+ people die from asbestos-related diseases each year, including mesothelioma and lung cancer (data from HSE). The two cancers are strikingly similar, and often difficult to distinguish, yet victims are treated very differently in the law. Read more: bit.ly/43JtZl8

It took Amy over 30 years to feel able to come forward and fight against her abuser - yet more proof the current law on limitation for child sexual abuse is unfair and needs reform. The 3-year time bar must be lifted, as recommended by IICSA. dailyecho.co.uk/news/24477212.…

"Compensation must not simply be cut because it does not suit those who are responsible for paying it." APIL's Jonathan Scarsbrook in Insurance_post on why insurers must not be allowed to hijack the review of the personal injury discount rate #PIDR 👉bit.ly/3LUhXxf

APIL (@apil) 's Twitter Profile Photo

"It is critical that the discount rate review focusses on the needs of injured people and nothing else", APIL has told the press in a recent letter campaign. "Severely injured people must not be made the scapegoats for the insurance industry's wider problems."

"Behind every one of the 1,711 people who died on UK roads is a story. A person who had friends, family, ambitions, and dreams. Their families will feel their loss forever." - Kim Harrison in APIL's blog about National Road Victim Month by RoadPeace 👉bit.ly/46ZhcwV

Compensation is never a windfall. It is carefully calculated to meet the needs of victims of negligence, nothing more, nothing less. If compensation is inadequate, taxpayers will pick up the bill for supporting severely injured people 👉bit.ly/3X5ntn6 #PIDR

Choose your words carefully when referring to car collisions. Using 'crash' or 'incident' is more precise than saying 'accident'. 'Accident' implies trivial, unpredictable events, which can wrongly suggest that seeking personal injury compensation is unjustified. #compensation

Ensuring victims of asbestos-related lung cancer get their full compensation is a key APIL campaign. The current process takes too long and can be impossible, whereas the law is fairer to mesothelioma victims . More on APIL's key campaigns here: bit.ly/4b4m192
