Trying to engineer a way to remove pilots from the flight deck is not about fighting fatigue and certainly not about improving safety, it is all about the economics of reducing pilot costs. #SafetyStartsWith2

The decisions made in Congress can have massive impacts on aviation safety. The laws passed on Capitol Hill made US aviation the gold standard for aviation safety. Thank you Congressman Nick Langworthy for your commitment to aviation safety and joining Air Line Pilot Podcast.

Pilots cannot be replaced through advances in technology—they are the most important safety feature on every airline flight, regardless of whether it is carrying passengers or cargo. #SafetyStartsWith2

No matter where you’re flying or what airline you’re on, all Americans deserve the same level of safety and security. Loopholes, and the abuse of current rules and regulations, undermine a system that has made U.S. commercial aviation the safest in the world.

Pilot labor leaders from around the world have sent Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury a letter that makes clear: technology alone can never replace the indispensable role of two pilots on the flight deck. bit.ly/3SERpUD #SafetyStartsWith2

When disaster strikes at 34,000 feet, every second counts. But if Airbus and others in the airline industry have their way, there may no longer be two pilots at the controls during an emergency — we can't let that happen. Read my op-ed in TravelPulse. bit.ly/4cirdWX

Through intensive training, extensive flight experience, human senses and uniquely human critical thinking and decision-making skills, pilots are ready to engage and create safe outcomes when something goes wrong in flight. Technology can never replace pilots. #SafetyStartsWith2

Airline pilots are trained for life to keep flying safe, and ALPA looks forward to continuing our collaboration with the FAA and industry stakeholders to expand opportunities for those who aspire to fly – and ensure that the safest place on earth will always be in the air.

This law is a major step forward for the safety of our nation’s aviation system, and it wouldn't have been possible without our strong, unified voice and pilot engagement. Our commitment to safety and making our profession stronger will never waver!

ALPA remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the highest safety standards. We urge regulators to reject the concept of RCO and continue supporting the presence of at least two highly-trained, qualified and well-rested pilots on every flight. #SafetyStartsWith2

The complex real-time decisions that must be made in a highly dynamic and often unpredictable environment requires human oversight and intervention, no matter how sophisticated the technology, especially when that technology malfunctions or fails. #SafetyStartsWith2

In the latest episode of Air Line Pilot Podcast, Capt. Jason Ambrosi talked with leaders of IFALPA, European Pilots, and ALPA Canada about how pilots are working around the globe to stop single pilot operations. Listen today: airlinepilot.podbean.com

With full backing from their union, including a $5 million grant from ALPA's war chest, Air Canada ALPA Pilots are ready for any outcome in this critical final stage of contract negotiations. We stand with them, unwavering in our support, every step of the way. #UnionStrong

It’s your flight crew’s job to ensure that each flight reaches its destination safe and secure. Unruly passenger behavior distracts, delays and puts everyone at risk. Do your part by following crew instructions. They are there for your safety.

THIS is what unity looks like, and it is this unity that will show Air Canada management that its pilots are serious about getting the world-class contract they have earned. Now it is time to recognize pilot contributions through a world-class contract. #UnionStrong

Automation didn’t avert this disaster. Technology didn’t avert this disaster. It was a team of two highly trained, well-rested, and fully qualified pilots that worked exactly as designed and averted catastrophe that day. #SafetyStartsWith2

I remember the fear and uncertainty when I was furloughed early in my career. To the Spirit pilots: You are not alone, you have the support of 78,000 ALPA pilots behind you. ALPA is committed to supporting each of you facing furloughs, and any member facing a challenging time.

Today we honor the strength and solidarity of ALPA pilots and working people everywhere, and pay tribute to the power of collective action that has shaped fair wages, safer workplaces, and a better future for all. Happy Labor and Labour Day! #UnionStrong #LaborDay

As an airline pilot, I can tell you, technology fails sometimes, even on the flight deck. Putting increased trust in autonomous systems creates an overreliance on systems that could fail—or be hacked—and requires more complex interactions between systems and pilots.
