This is a trigger for some. Taino artifacts found all across Haiti. The fact that we can see & touch Taino carvings and writings anytime we want. It belongs to us, just like the heritage. The fact that we are named after Tainos. We are proudly black AND proudly celebrate Tainos.

Across the Northeast there’s an abundance of rice. I’ve been visiting rice mills & various people who are part of the rice production value chain. Throughout my visits I keep getting reminded that we have a long ways to go, but there is hope. Change is here! This is our rising!🇭🇹

Did you know that the way Haitians make kasav is a direct preservation of how the Tainos on our land use to make it? These cooking techniques have been passed on from generation to generation. Viv Ayiti! 🇭🇹❤️✊🏿

Building canals inspires me greatly but working with teachers and students gives my life profound purpose. Hearing this student speak about her teacher and my organization blesses my soul! Viv edikasyon! Viv Ayiti! ✊🏿🇭🇹

One of the contribution I’m proudest of in all my work in Haiti is developing Haiti’s National Teacher of the Year Award. This year, Foundie Joseph won, out of 2,500 nominations our expert judges selected her & she deserves it! All teachers in Haiti deserve a celebration. 🇭🇹✊🏿

An important bridge collapsed in Cap-Haïtien & it’s been devastating for our community. A few days ago I asked the diaspora to help & my team will buy materials needed & deliver. Already 87 people have given $6,590 funding 33% of the bridge cost. WOW. L’union fait la force.🇭🇹

From $1,500HTG in June to $1,300HTG in July to $1,000HTG today, the price of rice keeps decreasing in the northeast of Haiti thanks to the canal! We still need a lot of equipment & ways to bring the rice across Haiti but Haitians are celebrating this win! Together, we did this!🇭🇹

Exactly 1 year ago the community began digging the canal. Now, we have several canals & bridges being built around the country by local communities. In August 1791 the Haitian Revolution began. In August 2023 another Haitian Revolution began. This one we all get to be a part of🇭🇹

Bertrhude Albert, Ph.D. I love your posts about your compatriots. They show a different perspective about your historic country and her people. The only time Haiti is mentioned in the news is when there's something chaotic, which is unfortunate. Viva Haiti!
