Just googled the 'environmental charity' Hubbub - who doesn't want a grant to do good environmental stuff? But... oh no but... Starbucks is involved + loads of other big corps, inc. my all-time 'favourites' innocent drinks (owned by Coca-Cola). Am I dreaming?

I’m supporting the #WeAreNature campaign because we are a part of Nature, not apart from it. Language is important- it’s not only how we define things , it’s what defines us . . . @WeAreNature.campaign

Delighted to see my new geranium from Bud Garden Centre has opened its first flower today. So delicate and a wonderful colour. It only went in a few weeks ago. Always such healthy plants from Bud 😍 and the leaves are beautiful as well, which is always a bonus.

In case you missed it! Manchester University Press will be publishing my first book in Nov 2025. It focuses on the modern history of the Northern Quarter, with a critical eye on its present and future. To give you a little more idea of what to expect, keep on reading...

Remember the trouble I had with my water bill with Clear Business UK? Finally sorted, but it's happening again with card billing. Bullying and snide tactics. Acting like bailiffs. The sales people *must* receive bonuses for this behaviour. Stay clear of Clear Business.

Great thread. We are almost peas in a pod. Same here - I couldn't make my biz work (the way I want it to) if I didn't go to bed at 9 and get up at 5. People say they'd love to do what I do when they retire. Still more ask me for discounts + free plants.

Nice tweets, but behind the scenes they make it very difficult. All over you when you're signing the dotted line. But if you deign to leave for a better offer... oof. More regulation needed.

Nice and tidy but all those annual bedding plants… why? So wasteful and not beneficial for pollinators. I thought MCC had ditched bedding schemes 😬

Gorgeous day at Little Woolden Moss in Irlam: like you’re on another planet, no humans to be seen! Severine is doing an MSc in Botanical Recording and is so good at plant ID.

A lovely planter in Chorlton filled with perennials, which provide a long season of interest and are good for our insect friends. They are good self seeders too: Stipa, Dianthus and Erigeron. cc. MCC Levenshulme and Levenshulme In Bloom.

Thinking of going to the HTA News trade show near Coventry, but wow: train fare is £140 unless I travel late and get home really late. It's much faster (despite the fact I'll have to charge my van) and cheaper to drive. Bit shite that there are no charging points at the venue.

Answering emails. Who runs a business and thinks that it’s OK not to reply? Nuts. Poor practice. Paying for stuff upfront (not nurseries btw); what happened to trade refs and 30 days credit? Agh, we have an HMRC audit of 2022’s accounts. Winter would have been easier.
