Lauren gets a higher accuracy in predictions than classic species distribution models that use climate as predictors of where species are. If you need your eyes to be convinced, see this prediction of redwoods and understory species associated @ Redwood National and State Park!

Remote sensing also has the advantage of TIME! We are taking images of Earth with planes and satellites all the time, so we could potentially automatically detect areas of plant species changes. An obvious example would be FIRE and #deepbiosphere gets right burn severity!
