Thanks John - completely agree with your sentiments. Could be placed alongside “the mystery of general practice” as essential reading for anyone working in primary care nuffieldtrust.org.uk/sites/default/…

The greatest social gradient in frailty was often seen in younger age groups. Early- and mid-life factors are also strongly associated with frailty in later life. Life-course approach to frailty prevention required.

We included 383 studies across 64 countries. Social inequalities in frailty is a global phenomenon. Health services in areas of higher socioeconomic deprivation will encounter higher rates of frailty, and frailty occurring in relatively younger people.

Familiar issues for emergency medicine - services in more deprived areas face greater needs across the spectrum of illness. Echos a key point from David Chung 🦀 at our last meeting - age-based services poorly serve deprived areas, where early and multimorbidity frailty is common

Has been a privilege to spend the last few days examining, then celebrating (in this morning’s seminar), Dr Lynda Russell’s PhD on “The needs of mothers with an addiction who have had children removed from their care” Really important work - well done! 🙌 ProfMinnis UofG School of Health & Wellbeing
