Great to see these findings from Beth Griffin 🌸’s PhD being showcased at the NIHR mental health event in London today. Beth’s work is exploring how use of restrictive practices can be improved to help patients’ sense of psychological safety. I’m sad I can’t be there!

At my first ever writing retreat with Dr Nutmeg Hallett and National Institute for Health and Care Research funded undergraduate nursing/maths interns from Uni of Birmingham, task to write a paper in the next few days.

Reflections, dedicated time & being able to focused is wonderful, we've adopted the Pomodoro Technique which is working, moved to a shared document, with feedback and movement after each cycle.

How cool would it be to do a small study with a group of mh pts, where their notes were condensed into one document, (the rest made inaccessible to staff) & they received care as normal. Staff & pts could report their experiences before, during & after, to see if care changed.

Just trying to take this in really: “I want out of MH [understood to be mental health] ASAP. It’s demoralising.” It’s incredibly sad yes. That’s the reality. Doesn’t the health minister try and change that?
