Delighted to attend the CRUK Scotland Centre Annual Meeting today at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer. So much incredible research behind done right on our doorstep! Fantastic presentations from early career researchers on a whole range of tumour types and different stages of the cancer pathway.

Some really great examples from Tom Bird on the power of impactful patient and public engagement. MSPs mentioned the mobile liver check roadshow being parked outside Holyrood to me at the SNP conference so clearly a successful campaign and something I'd love to replicate at CRUK.

Thought-provoking insights from Imran Ahmad on the complexities involved in treating prostate cancers in men with obesity, particularly in relation to health inequalities. Patient involvement has been hugely important to the success of his research.

Gillian Horne highlighted some of the challenges to involving teenage and young adults in research, but shared some valuable insights into how to do this better. The main take home message for me was to ask them!
