Sometimes doing the right thing doesn’t feel good.

You can have nearly anything you set your mind to - if you’re willing to make the necessary sacrifices. If you aren’t willing to sacrifice, ask yourself if it’s possible that you want what you currently have more than what you think you want instead.

You can never be certain if it was the right choice - assess the data you’ve got available, trust your gut, and jump in. Even if it was wrong you’ll end up with better data or a more keen gut instinct for next time.

I have no idea how much time I’ve got left. None of us do. So instead of the “if this were my last day approach” I try to adopt “if this were my last year”. If I had one more year here to take meaningful action, what’s the greatest legacy of good that I could leave behind?

As often as you can remember: Tell someone you respect what you admire about them. Tell someone you love what you love about them. These small gestures have an impact 1000x their cost. You will change the day, or week, of someone you value.

If you don’t choose your values, others will choose them for you. If you don’t choose your beliefs, others will choose them for you. If you don’t choose how to use your time, others will choose it for you.

Don’t let anything distract you from savoring a good moment, they are what we’re here for.

It’s tough to choose between two good things, but if you don’t you’ll often lose them both.
