Corals spawned in the field Palau on the 1st and 2nd April. It was so busy that I literally didn't have time to take one photo. But here are some from the site. @GBRFoundation UQ Science CSIRO Coralassist Lab Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC)
Here in Palau researching the ability of corals to adapt to changing climate. Working in collaboration with Dr Apple Chiu (CUHK) and Prof Peter Mumby (Uni Queensland) Peter Mumby ExeterMarine
Excited to share the first paper of my PhD research, the genome of the pink sea fan is out! This has been a real game changer for allowing me to investigate connectivity and the potential impacts of climate change #octocoral #genome #OA in GBE (Genome Biology and Evolution) doi.org/10.1093/gbe/ev…
KMac, aka Kirsty Macleod delivers the definitive word on genetic connectivity in pink sea fan! Great job!!! (even managed to work in reference to TJenks’ Eunicella range expansion paper!). Fab! #ImpactsMFC Tom Jenkins
ExeterEvo wunderkind Kirsty Macleod treats the ICES Sea-Unicorn delegates at #ImpactsMFC to her exciting genetic structure & dispersal modelling analyses on Pink sea fan. Fab work that represents a real leap in knowledge on this protected indicator species. 🤓🪸🌊👩🏼🔬🙌
Fab week in Sesimbra, Portugal with ExeterEvo & Kirsty Macleod at the ICES Sea-Unicorn Human Impacts on Marine Functional Connectivity meeting. Thanks to all the great researchers making a real difference to understand & conserve marine wildlife #ImpactsMFC #MEEGonTour
Pleased to share this mini review by Josh Pysanczyn on the role of acoustics within the sensory landscapes of coral larval settlement. Hugest congratulations to ExeterEvo grad student Kirsty Macleod who today defended her PhD research on the molecular ecology of pink sea fans to pass her Viva with NO CORRECTIONS! Amazing job Dr Macleod! 🪸 #PhDone! ExeterMarine Research at Exeter
🪸 New research on marine connectivity in pink sea fans led by Kirsty Macleod ✨ Using genome-wide SNPs and passive dispersal modelling, we found that rare and longer dispersal events likely explains range-wide isolation-by-distance. doi.org/10.1111/eva.13… #octocoral #popgen
