Really cool evidence from Wharton colleague Hamsa Bastani that AI use by students harms learning. When given access to GPT-4, students perform better. But when it's taken away, they subsequently perform worse than students who never had access--they learned less.

It is difficult to describe to non-insiders the sheer scope of federal resources in Texas. But almost none of them are going to pro-democracy work. Almost all are devoted to investigating poor peopel for non-violent drugs + immigration issues. Profound moral and strategic errors.

No sure what else is needed for the US and the EU to sanction Ben Gvir and Smotrich (at least). The full package, from travel restrictions to public shaming. Just do it.

Absolutely this! If you're in New York, join us Open Hearts Initiative. Our volunteers are making so much of a difference in people's lives, it's incredible to see. We can't wait for social change to make change. We can make it in our communities.

Love this comic. Which is why at Open Hearts Initiative, we're giving the megaphone to people who are more than happy to welcome affordable, supportive, and transitional housing in their neighborhoods!

The single most shocking piece of research I've found in years of deep-diving into car bloat is this: Raising a vehicle's front hood by just 4" increases the chance of pedestrian death by ~22%. This new bill is extremely good. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Oh my god, this is horrifying. County lesson plans being created by AI. The crisis of AI in education is here, and it's not just the students we need to be talking about!

I'm sorry, but what? We are paying parents to drive their kids to school and make the roads more dangerous for ALL kids and slower for busses (not to mention environmental impacts), instead of just hiring more bus drivers at a fraction of the cost? Mayor Cherelle L. Parker Josh Shapiro ???

"If we’re talking about the kind of rhetoric we’re seeing in right-wing Telegram spaces, they’re basically talking about how [the election] will be 'decided by the bullet box, not the ballot box.'”

Aaron Ross Powell with a super insightful take on what's happening with Vance, Trump, and the owner of this site: Model Collapse. They've been "trained" on increasingly selected and extreme data, and have completely lost the ability to parse out the BS. reimaginingliberty.com/silicon-valley…

Horrifying. Farmers use processed sewage as fertilizer. But... "Its facility also accepts effluent from industries including aerospace, defense, oil and gas, and auto manufacturing." Massive quantities of PFAS going into our food and water system. nytimes.com/2024/08/31/cli…

This cover is going to stay with me for a long time. "Who takes care of the children of the people who take care of your children" is a question I implore everyone who has the means to pay for private childcare to ask themselves.
