Beware of common #mosquito breeding grounds around your home! Items like plant saucers, buckets, and tarps can easily collect water and become ideal spots for mosquitoes to lay eggs. Regularly check and empty these containers to keep your yard mosquito-free. 🦟

Unlike female #mosquitoes, male mosquitoes do not bite or feed on blood. Instead, they feed exclusively on nectar, plant juices, and other sugary substances for energy.

From Culex to Aedes, mosquito sizes vary, but their bite is equally annoying! 🦟 Culex mosquitoes are around 1/4 inch, while Aedes mosquitoes are a tad smaller at 1/8 inch. They might be tiny, but they sure know how to make their presence felt!

An X-ray machine is used to sterilize non-biting male mosquitoes before they are released into targeted areas to disrupt the reproductive cycle of wild mosquito populations. Learn more about Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) at GLAmosquito.org.

🦟🌡️ Curious why mosquitoes are drawn to you? Here’s why: CO2: They track the carbon dioxide we exhale. Body Heat: Warmth helps them find us. Body Odors: Sweat and skin chemicals make us more appealing. Use insect repellent to keep bites away!

Check this out! 🦟 We found #mosquito larvae in a tiny water spot on a recycling container lid. Even small amounts of standing water can be a breeding ground. Inspect your property weekly and remember to tip out any standing water! 💧

We’re not just about mosquito control! We also manage black flies along the Los Angeles River. These pesky, biting flies, often called “buffalo gnats” due to their humped backs, can be quite a nuisance.

Are #mosquitoes ruining your outdoor fun? Equip yourself with repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus. These effective ingredients mask your scent or mess with mosquitoes’ ability to find you.

Did you know only female #mosquitoes bite? It’s not just because they’re pesky— they need the protein in your blood to develop and lay hundreds of eggs.

Even children’s toys aren't safe from #mosquito mischief! We found Aedes mosquito eggs on a floating dog toy in a bucket. Just goes to show, mosquitoes can turn anything into their breeding ground.
