Congratulations to three UF Chemistry faculty members who were awarded named professorships through the generosity of several donors (thank you!). First up, Professor and Chair Ronald K. Castellano is the inaugural Steven M. and Rebecca J. Scott Term Professor in Chemistry. UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Prof. Adam Veige Adam Veige received the V.T. and Louise Jackson Professorship in Chemistry. Supported by Livingstone Charitable Foundation, Inc. via the estate of Betty J. and J. Stanley Livingstone, the Jackson endowment honors V. T. (former dept. faculty) and Louise Jackson.
Prof. Adrian Roitberg received the Frank E. Harris Professorship in Theoretical Chemistry. This professorship was made available through the generosity of the estate of Frank E. Harris. Dr. Harris was a member of the dept faculty in the Quantum Theory Project. Congrats!
.UF Chemistry has 3 new assistant profs joining us this year! First intro is Prof. Kaibo Feng. Kaibo received his Ph.D. University of Illinois with WhiteGroup and completed a postdoc with Buchwald MIT Chemistry. The group will develop reactions using transition-metal and organocatalysts
Next assistant prof UF Chemistry to introduce is Prof. Feng Tang. Feng completed his PhD at Wuhan Univ. Wuhan University with Bi-Feng Yuan and postdoc UC Riverside with Yinsheng Wang. The Tanglab leverages mass spectrometry and next-gen seq techs to study DNA damage and repair ...
Last but not least! Our 3rd new assistant prof. intro is for Prof. Amal Narayanan. Amal received his Ph.D. under the supervision of Abraham Joy Abraham Joy and was an #HHMI-LSRF postdoc with Cliff Brangwynne brangwynnelab Princeton University. Welcome to UF Chemistry! Amal Narayanan
I'm a bit late in announcing...but excited to share that our Prentice Lab UF has been awarded an U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award! We'll be developing experimental and computational #MassSpec tools to identify the chemical structures of lipids and metabolites. news.clas.ufl.edu/three-clas-fac…
