Great to have the Chief of @IOMinthePacific in ๐ธ๐ง last week, to meet with our partners & participate in discussions about key achievements under EU Pacific ๐ช๐บ funded programming on human trafficking & GBV.
Over the past year, w/ support from EU Pacific ๐ช๐บ & IOM, the National Council of Women & PCWs in Makira, Malaita & Guadalcanal have empowered over 250 men, women & youth with information about human trafficking & GBV in Solomon Islands. Proud to #InvestInWomen for #GenderEquality!
Last week, IOM Solomon Islands visited Western Province to discuss climate change and human mobility with local communities. With support from KOICA Fiji ๐ฐ๐ท, the insights gathered will be used to develop materials that raise awareness and promote behaviour change on #ClimateChange.

MASI 2 days Training with IOM - UN Migration ๐บ๐ณ starts today at Heritage Park Hotel. This training is to help the media understand and communicate about trafficking in person, especially to support safe and decent working conditions on fishing vessels in the Pacific. Many thanks to IOM.

At the 26th PIDC Annual Meeting in Honiara ๐ธ๐ง, IOM - UN Migration ๐บ๐ณ introduced the draft Reporting & Information Sharing Platform (RISP). A first in the region & funded by the Government of Japan, #RISP will enhance evidence-based decision-making & border control in PIDC member countries
Thanks to IOM Development Fund & New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, this month Labour, Fisheries & Law Enforcement reps in SOI๐ธ๐ง, FSM๐ซ๐ฒ & TV๐น๐ป have been trained as trainers on identifying & referring victims of trafficking & labour exploitation in the fishing sector. Now to cascade training to other frontliners!
In Samoa, @IOMSamoa validated findings from the Capacity Assessment on Trafficking in Persons at the inaugural National Validation Workshop. Part of IOM Solomon Islands' regional project to address labour standards on fishing vessels in the Pacific.
