Politics should be everyone but requiring Cllrs to attend every meeting in-person is impossible for some due to caring, fluctuating medical conditions etc. After Tory stonewalling, v pleased to see that Labour govt will at least consider the merits of virtual & hybrid meetings

I don't typically like tweeting about this stuff, for various reasons, but: I am sad and angry about what's happening in the country now, both about the causes of it (and their failure to take responsibility) and the effect it's having on already vulnerable people.

In light of the events unfolding in the UK: I couldn't agree more with this take. These are not "protests", this is hate unfolding in plain sight. We (Sascha Riaz Markus Wagner), along with a long list of social scientists, have studied such hate crimes/pogroms: 🧵

Not one part of this headline is right - not protesters but rioters. It is far-right terrorism. And, Asylum Seekers are not illegal.

A piece of advice we got in this small survey that I really liked was "it takes a community to build an academic". With that in mind I recommend joining PSA Women & Politics or GenElect Network (although I am biased as I convene both of these groups...)
