Team SpecIAnt doing last bit of fieldwork for this year to collect thermal loggers we use to understand how changing climate impacts keystone species, the wood ants.

Olipa hauskaa olla puhumassa lajien välisestä risteytymisestä ja keskustelemassa Biologian ja Maantieteen opettajien syyspäivillä! Kyllä on nuori sukupolvi hyvissä käsissä! #bmol #laji #evoluutio #muurahaiset #luonnonmonimuotoisuus

Kimalaiset eivät lennä pimeässä. Labrassa ne lopettavat lennon heti kun valot sammuu. Ne eivät myöskään näe punaista valoa.

I'm thrilled and humbled of been awarded an ERC Starting Grant from European Research Council (ERC) With ERODE we will unravel the evolutionary dynamics of genomic erosion and develop tools for #biodiversity #conservation - Horizon Europe🇪🇺 #ERCStG

Incredibly excited to have been awarded an #ERCStG by European Research Council (ERC) for my project #EVOGOODGENES!! We will be exploring the genomics and evolution of honest signals in #stalkeyedflies. Get in touch for details about the project and opportunities to join the lab! Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

I started to study one of these hybrid populations 18 years ago during my MSc. Now, thanks to Pierre Nouhaud Beatriz Portinha Simon Martin and Vitor Sousa we are able to show predictability of evolution after hybridization.

Thanks to fantastic collaborators Sarah Otto and Bryn Wiley at University of British Columbia for being patient while I learn simulations. Can semipermeable species boundaries facilitate persistence in a changing climate? Our new work on 5 wood ant 🐜species seems to support this. doi.org/10.1111/mec.16… We show that... 1/5 (a thread 🧵)
