I am so sorry to hear this. Tim was brilliant when I was at @ncvo (and he at Rayne Fdn). He really worked to bring the arts and 'mainstream vol sector' together. I liked/admired his approach to evidence and the value of the arts. Warmest wishes to family and all at Aesop Arts & Society

Charity folk, please fill in the sector's quarterly survey NOW! It's crucial. This one's on local goverment. Given the dangerous state councils are in right now, it's essential we get charities' views (even if you don't work with them) Please RT too! ntu.ac.uk/research/group…

This is a huge, huge blow for the youth sector and youth voice!! A healthy, democratic society relies on the voices of the many and the erosion of the spaces and places championing children and young people's voices is a massive concern! 😥

Most of us are reasonably convinced that Truss's economic programme (fwiw) was proven to have failed within a month. The market verdict was brutal. But most policy isn't that clear. I read a LOT of centre left pamphlet-speak calling for industrial policy ... 1/

Look at this excellent Head of Communications job. Do you want/know someone who wants this excellent job, working hand in hand with charities, at the forefront of developing a growing thinktank's profile, and with a fab team to boot? Please apply/share! probonoeconomics.com/job-vacancy-he…

In the North East London constituency the "Britain First: No to Immigration" candidate was beaten by the Animal Welfare Party, Count Binface, and a random independent. God I love my city.

These elections have shown pro-environment parties and mayors who made net zero central to their campaigns made significant gains. Reform have won 2 council seats out of 2500. Time to recognise the net zero row back and kowtowing to an extreme fringe was a strategic disaster

This is fascinating, not least the number of respondents to the questions about recycling centres. Reminds of a councillor saying their post bag only had two things: bins and dog poo. Grants to the community sector are first against the wall.

Governments have long been interested in volunteering. Sheard (1995) has argued that governments have viewed volunteering as ‘a panacea for whatever society’s current ills happen to be’. Or political parties’ ills? link.springer.com/chapter/10.100… #volunteering

News is still full of whether taxes will rise by £2000. Whether this is true or not, I’ve just seen it’s over 4yrs. That’s £9.60 a week. I will vote for any party that puts my tax up this much (or more) if things just start working again. I want decent public services.

Today RSPCA (England & Wales) turns 200 📷 This is a truly momentous day, & it's incredible to think how many millions of animals are better off thanks to our work across the board: from rescues & rehab through to advocacy & campaigns. This pic shows volunteer fundraisers, circa 1940
