Not happy until we’ve had our first Roseate Tern of the year at Seaforth. And after us crying one in all weekend Tony Conway ⚜️ hit gold on his work break this morning. Still there this evening and aggressively attacking anything that moved around it. #RosyBalboa🥊

Short vid of the 2 Rosey’s this morning. Almost certainly 2 different birds than the 3 last week due to ring combination etc. And a soundscape of what makes the usual summer lull so good on the reserve. Great the Terns are doing so well after being hammered by HPAI last summer.

Seaforth gold this morning. The 3rd record of Cattle Egret but the first one on the ground. Still rare here despite them being in pretty good numbers within a few miles all around us. 2 1sts Arctic tern were the only other birds of note in an otherwise quiet morning.

Seaforth tern colony is thriving this year after last summers disaster, juvs everywhere. We’ve also had at least 5 of this years juvs from up at RSPB Hodbarrow. Another blue ringed bird tonight. Also a feisty 1sts Arctic tern bullying the Commons. 👊🏻Rachelle Regan

#CommonTern 2.26 ringed as a chick RSPB Saltholme in 2021 now breeding #Seaforth. Others from Anglesey Skerries & Dublin plus multiple juveniles from RSPB England #Hodbarrow. Nomads. Love them & proud to be playing a part in helping them thrive 💚 #RSPBEcology Rachelle Regan

Sandwich Tern - 139 of this year's chicks at Cemlyn were ringed & fitted with orange flags - majority starting with the letter E. All appear to have left Cemlyn with several reports along NWales coast. Worth scrutinising any juveniles, particularly at sites around Liverpool bay.

To those scousers and especially the so called ‘Liverpool fans’ who turned up to riot in their own city yesterday against foreigners, this will be your team sheet for the first game of the season 🙄

No hoped for Black Tern at Seaforth tonight. But great to finally get our first juv Common Tern from West Midlands Ringing Group Been keeping an eye out for one the last few weeks. It’s been a belting summer for colour rings with lots of juvs from RSPB Hodbarrow and a few from Conder Green. 👌🏻

Not before time, the first Black Tern of the year dropped in to Seaforth in appalling weather tonight. More colour ringed Common Terns too with new birds from the West Midlands, Dublin, Anglesey, Conder Green and Hodbarrow. 🙌

Looking to give away my trusty Lieca BA 8 x 32. Ideally to a young birder starting out.. Good condition. Focus wheel needs some WD40 😉 Re tweets appreciated. DM for details..

A big Tern roost over high tide at Seaforth this morning included 46 Sandwich Tern among the Commons. But the surprising highlight was 4 juv Little Tern. Adults are just about annual so these were very welcome. 3 were ringed, with one from Gronant and 2 from Ireland. #Terns

The best thing to do when you bird in the NW is head east, so to Spurn we went. Spot flys, Pied Flys, Redstarts, Wryneck, RB Shrike a stunning RB Fly and 3 Black tern. But arguably the highlight a pale Honey Buzzard we picked up over the sea that headed south down the penisular👌
