the easiest way for the federal government to improve the wellbeing of teens would be to adequately fund public schools. it’s quite stressful for teenagers when their year 12 english teacher abruptly quits halfway through the year due to suicidal burnout, for example

Content for children as young as 10 to be arrested, handcuffed, hauled before the courts and locked away in prison cells but draws the line at Facebook 🤯

Can you make mental health care: psychologists, psychiatrists, medication, treatment, in patient and out patient clinics, affordable and accessible then??? People are dying by suicide because they can’t get the support they need. Fuck your open hearts and hands.

PSA to anyone attending any of the disrupt land forces protests in Naarm - biggest mob of plain clothes cops at Southern Cross station: all white men who look like they could be in SAlt and men of colour who can’t be older than 35. 👀

I keep thinking about this. Social media was and is a lifeline to so many kids from rural communities, queer kids, kids with disabilities to engage and connect in a world they feel like they don’t belong in. This strategy isn’t harm reduction, it’s prohibition.

Protesters at the Land Forces rally are there to call for an end to violence and war and to push for peace. It's the right thing to do. This expo is about profiting from weapons, wars and death. The Allen government and Vic Police should be deeply ashamed about supporting it.

What’s happening at the land forces protest is genuinely terrifying. Already the police have used capsicum spray, cops ready to fire rubber bullets all at UNARMED peace protesters!!!!!! #DisruptLandForces

The independence of legal and human rights observers at protests must be respected. The OC spraying and physical assault of MALS observers at the Disrupt Land Forces event this morning is unacceptable Victoria Police

Interesting. When Labor did this last year to suspend Qld’s Human Rights Act and introduce amendments to use adult watch houses to detain children, without scrutiny the LNP were VERY vocal about the need for parliamentary scrutiny…

thinking abt this harrowing image from 2023 of an imprisoned Aboriginal child with a gun to his head. just 2 weeks ago after yet another young person's death in custody at this hellhole, albanese was quick to assert his government would not intervene.

9/11/2001 I was a freshman in high school in Alabama, I wore a hijab. In gym class my teacher wheeled in a screen. Something horrible was happening. I watched, mouth agape as the second tower hit. We were silent. As that period reached an end, my name was announced on the 1/

A ray of sunshine over the weekend - despite the bleak weather and state of the world - was the first ever Liberty Victoria's Rights Advocacy Project conference. Warmed the soul to hear from law students, early career lawyers and seasoned human rights advocates on lawyering for change.

There are 250,000 Australians with Lebanese ancestry. Over the last 24 hours they’ve watched from afar as thousands of explosives planted by Israel have detonated in homes and public places in Lebanon, maiming more than 2000 and killing at least two children.

Giving millions of dollars to Police organisations in an attempt to create and support "alternatives for at-risk youths" is one of the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. And yet, that's what the Federal AG and Government have done. ministers.ag.gov.au/media-centre/n…
