My statement on the publication of the report from Phase 2 of the Grenfell Inquiry:

The publication of the second phase of the Grenfell Inquiry is an important step on the journey to justice for the bereaved, survivors and local community. City Hall will support the police in ensuring those who committed so much wrongdoing are brought to justice.

The Grenfell Inquiry makes it clear that the residents of Grenfell Tower have paid the price for systematic dishonesty and corporate greed. Those responsible must now be held to account. I’m calling on the government to ban companies named today from receiving public contracts.

The Grenfell Inquiry’s findings represent a damning indictment of deregulation and failures by successive governments. All those responsible must act on the recommendations made by the Inquiry, ensuring all lessons are learned.

As Mayor, my heart goes out to the Grenfell community. We must tackle the glaring structural inequalities that undoubtedly contributed to this catastrophe. I’ll continue standing with the Grenfell community as their fight for justice goes on.
