Though the direct cause of the occurrence of the bloom of the thimble jellyfish is unknown, quick satellite analysis indicates heat or thermal stress levels (30-32 °C) of ocean temperatures co-existed with the jellyfish bloom (blue arrow). Data: NOAA's Optimum Interpolation SST
