Excited to share this new paper from my group! Jennifer Zachry and M. Gunes Kutlu show that D1 and D2 MSNs in the nucleus accumbens do not have opposing actions and neither population signals reward. Instead, D1 MSNs respond to salient stimuli and D2 MSNs to prediction errors

nic tritsch ๐บ๐ฆ ๐ณ๏ธโ๐ #BLM Thank you for bringing the awareness to the community. The photoactivation phenomenon of mApple-based red fluorescent sensors should be handled with caution when using these sensors. We also discussed this issue in our latest paper on GRAB-DA sensors.

Congrats Anya Krok, MD PhD for matching to NYU Grossman School of Medicineโs psychiatry residency program (research track)! Very proud of you!!
Do you think about dopamine ramps? If so, we hope that this story would be interesting to you and demonstrate that an underappreciated experimental variable has a strong influence on when they appear in a task. Work led by Joey Floeder and helped by Huijeong Jeong Ali Mohebi
Wrapping up another wonderful 2 week in woods hole teaching with Matt van der Meer, Jess Cardin and Stephen Cowen as part of NS&B. Great science, students and colleagues in surreal setting
