I have just nominated Wopke Hoekstra for the position of Commissioner in the new European Commission. This gives the Netherlands a strong candidate for a substantial portfolio. I informed the House of Representatives this morning.

Russia is a security threat. We need more, not less vigilance. Giving potential Russian spies and saboteurs easy EU access would undermine the security of us all. Today in a letter I ask the Hungarian government to explain. If their easy access scheme is a risk, we will act.
