Over 400 Navajo people served as “code talkers” in WWII, using their native language to send messages on behalf of Allied forces. Since 1982, the federal government has set aside a day to recognize Navajo code talkers, whose messages were never deciphered by opposing forces.

First organized during World War II, our airborne forces have leapt into combat zones, risking life and limb in service of our country. Thank you to all current and former soldiers who served in airborne divisions!

Created in 1916 at the height of WWI, the Marine Corps Reserve’s mission is to reinforce and bolster active-duty Marine units around the world. During peacetime, Marine Corps Reserve members can be seen in their communities leading initiatives such as Toys for Tots.

Labor Day is a day to celebrate and reflect on the vital work of the labor movement and all unions have done to help build the middle class. As an advocate for working families, I’ll always stand up for a stronger middle class and the rights of workers in Illinois.
