Brussels is putting on a festival of Britishness to say goodbye to the UK ahead of Brexit. The Grand Place is lit up in Union Jack colours while bands play British music. Even Manneken Pis is dressed up for the occasion. #BrexitEve

The Irish leaders’ debate is really quite shocking. The three leaders have a detailed grasp of complex welfare and tax issues, they are polite and courteous, they admit mistakes, they say sorry. They might even be largely honest. Why is all that possible in Ireland but not here?

I’d rather have a burgundy coloured EU passport that gives unrestricted freedom of movement to live, work, study and travel around 27 other countries than a blue coloured UK passport that doesn’t offer these freedoms. Please retweet if you agree.

Just made a big mistake on BBC News (UK) which I regret. I said Tim Davie was privately educated at Whitgift. True - but he won a scholarship, and was the first in his family to go to university. Given how much of my life is spent working on social mobility, that's unforgivable. Sorry

Many similar stories of random anomalies in independent schools as well as state schools. Small cohorts have benefited but larger ones have been hit.

When life is at risk, delays are very, very nerve-wracking and can be fatal. The risks are higher than for covid. Please see cancer as the priority it is.

Education has much to learn from health in this area. No one seriously contends that health inequalities are down to poor performing GPs or hospitals, yet this is exactly the narrative we have allowed about our schools. #EducationSummit

#enablingnextgen. ‘Black history month shouldn’t be so stereotypical. Don’t just concentrate on suffering . What about contributions to science and the arts?’

#BBC100Women Fascinating, wide ranging list. What are our nation’s names? Northern Ireland and Wales aren’t labelled UK. Is the ‘UK’ only England ? Conversely, does England not merit its own name if the others do? Was there no one from Scotland worthy of a place?
