Our morning session saw us learning about trends in local, state and national farm land pricing presented by Ian Donaldson from Rabobank Australia; and climate and weather forecast tools and seasonal outlooks from Bureau of Meteorology, Australia’s Michaela Alexander and Jess Lingard. #SCFSFDEast

Kicking off after morning tea we had Louise O’Neil from ‘Farm Life Fitness’ filling us in on keeping fit & healthy to keep on farming; & Trevor Lucas from CBH Group speaking on CBH’s Sustainability Plan and sustainability requirements to maintain particular markets. #SCFSFDEast

During the lunch break we were treated to a demonstration of the DE Engineers modified snail roller by Kevin Prater. Everyone always enjoys a look at some new bit of machinery! #SCFSFDEast

After lunch we headed out to the paddock with our first stop being FAR Australia’s winter wheat time of sowing trial and Nick Poole presenting some interesting results on varietal performance and seasonal interactions. For more info on this topic, why not head along to FAR’s

A great afternoon in the paddock, the TOS trial visit was followed by a visit to the Nutrien WA Agronomy disease management in canola site, an interesting discussion on ryegrass control & herbicide resistance with AHRI’s Roberto Busi, a very practical demonstration on grain storage

Giving the new SCF BBQ trailer a christening to finish off the #SCFSFDEast with a sundowner and bbq dinner before we do it all again tomorrow at Perillup/Frankland for the #SCFSFDWest! We hope to see you there!

We rounded out the morning with a session on understanding Natural Capital and what it might mean to farming in the future, presented by Dr Lizzie Lowe & Ram Pandit on behalf of the #WADroughtHub. #SCFSFDWest
