Ok #archaeology world. Detecting. What can we do? Portable Antiquities is stretched to breaking, FLOs are overworked & underresourced, finds are churning out of the ground with zero context, rallies are decimating the arch resource. We really need TO DO SOMETHING!

That thing when you go to write a short piece about detecting and torcs and you realise there has actually been a paper on this topic festering inside you for years... I may be some time! 😂 #Archaeology #Torcs #Gold

An important piece examining the vital information that is iretrievably lost when hoards are not excavated using the tried and archaeological process. Found a hoard while metal detecting? Stop digging! Call the excavation hotline number on the back of your #NCMD card Portable Antiquities

This is a really important - if you don’t understand what sort of crucial information can be lost by hacking a hoard out of the ground rather than excavating it, you really must read this.

See also chronic illness, cancer etc... oh and anything goes wrong in a private hospital and they'll blue light you to the NHS. The NHS has our backs, private is in it for the cash. #NHS #SaveOurNHS

If you want to see why we don't cut trenches too deep without shoring... ...or put the spoil heap right next to the trench... This is why: #Archaeology

I have this coming on Saturday... immensely proud of, & excited for, the lovely young woman who is my daughter, but I'll still be a sobbing wreck... 😭
