truly one of the saddest parts of the human condition is our inability to update our beliefs in light of new information past the age of 25

When you buy a gun, you’re shown pictures of gunshot victims. If your neighbor suspects you of buying a gun, they can call a hotline. If you’re from a state where guns are illegal, you can be arrested if you buy a gun out of state. Oh sorry, these are all abortion laws.

personal attacks from people >25 in response to this only proves my point. they are threatened by new information. they don’t stop to think about the broader point - they get caught up in semantics. my silly words threatened their egos. they lash out, like children.

I want to say something else. I beat cancer w no ‘positive thinking’ at all. I never, ever thought that was a factor. I was pragmatic & always accepted I could die. I beat cancer bc of medicine & science. That’s it. (Not bc I was a brave warrior or a positive thinker.)

In 1968, Sidney Poitier was at a press conference at the height of his career. He made it very clear how he felt about the press. Funny that I had to find this on a discarded film reel with 1000s of books, Microfiche and films. Now you can see it.

There’s this condescending, bullshit narrative - peddled by powerful people and companies who make money from it - that goes like this: If you are clean and pure enough in your living, you’ll 1. not get cancer 2. and/or survive it. It’s a lie. That’s not how cancer works.
