Today we worked with a fantastic group of young neurodiverse students from Mossbourne Academy mulching London Planes, an Oak and Chestnuts. They were amazed to learn we have now planted nearly 300 trees in this Park since the early 2000s - all down to enthusiastic volunteers

Brimstone butterfly, gonepteryx rhamni….It is one of the first butterflies to appear in Spring with a life span of 10-11 months. Adults overwinter (hibernate) and it’s the longest lived of all our indigenous butterflies. Several around the composting bin at the TN yesterday.

These trees are like a horror story… the caterpillars of the Spindle Ermine Moth hanging in a ghostly silken web covering our spindle trees at the tree nursery. They’ve completely stripped the leaves… the trees will recover but year on year the tree will weaken and likely die.

We’re in the midst of a heatwave, please give your nearest NEW street tree a drink 🌳💧💚 Extra watering from caring local residents can make all the difference to how well a tree develops, and sometimes whether it survives. 👉Spread the word #WateringWednesday 💧💧🌳🌳
