I was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Prof Tony Gershlick from Covid-19 last night. Tony was my mentor when I was an SpR at Glenfield Hospital in the 1990s, and it was both a privilege and a pleasure to work with him. A sad loss for interventional cardiology

Here's a chest X-ray that made the radiologist gasp and reach for the phone. What could this thin grey line possibly be? The patient was a 30 yo male, no significant medical history, who had started to experience stabbing pains in his chest a few days earlier.

This is not something you want to see on an MRI. The patient was a 3 y.o. boy with a suspected upper respiratory tract infection. But why has most of his face disappeared from the scan?

Five years ago a 20 year old woman was admitted to a hospital in France after a serious motorcycle crash. She had a large thoracic injury and a right hemopneumothorax (blood and air in the chest cavity). But a chest X-ray also revealed something... unexpected. What could it be?

Happy #HEARTThursday everyone! I have a fun quick quiz for you today (see below). This largely falls into the category of ‘anatomy trivia’, but also nails home some important prognostication/intervention points. Thanks to Joe Maleszewski, MD for the image #cvpath #cardiacpath

If you could recommend just one book for someone starting on their echo journey to TTE accreditation - what would it be?
