Sending solidarity to my former colleagues, who have continued to shed light on the D.C. region despite dwindling resources and staff. We will know less about our neighbors and communities if the menace in this email bears out.

It's being reported that WAMU 88.5 will "temporarily automate" tomorrow, and that some staff have lost access to "internal systems". Hoping for all the best for WeMakeWAMU is a union. Any diminution of WAMU's capacity would be a huge loss for the DMV and public radio nationally.

WAMU is supposedly shuttering DCist to focus on audio, but among the talented employees getting the axe is the most experienced, accomplished audio journalist at the station. These decisions are senseless and the purported reasoning shows a lack of respect for us all

DCist and WAMU are vital parts of our local media ecosystem. These cuts are a shameful loss to our community. Here's how you can show support:
