It's my first day in the Reality Labs office. Loving the snacks, the private workrooms, meeting my teammates in person, sweet corporate swag, & (mostly) the on-tap bubble water.

I started my #PhD knowing that I loved #bats #research and even writing/publishing papers. But I was pretty sure I didn't want to stay in #academia . In my applications, I wrote about wanting to work in the #government or #NGO . But over time I became convinced otherwise. A🧵 (1/)

I suppose it’s as good a time as any to share this news. This fall I am winding down my lab, teaching my last class, and getting ready to leave my job as a tenured professor. At the end of this year I will be leaving the academic industry for that other one
