Residents in City of Joburg were excited to see new toilets delivered. When there are not enough toilets residents are forced to walk long distances to reach toilets. This effects women in particular, as it can be dangerous for women, especially at night. @planact_ngo 1to1AgncyofEngagemnt

#Asivikelane and St james Apostolic faith mission are working with Mangaung_Metro to achieve dignified sanitation. It is important to involve residents in decision-making and we hope that by working together we can ensure that the community receives the sanitation solutions that they need.

Exactly a week ago I spoke at a convening of Asivikelane reflecting on the work over the years and the realities today. I spoke in particular about Sinoxolo Mafevuka, whose life was stolen from her when she was rapes and murdered in communal toilet 200 metres away from her home

Very little to nothing has changed in Cape Town. The informal settlement community, SST Section, where Sinoxolo was raped and murdered still has no dignified and safe toilets, 8 years later. How many more must die and for how long?
