One useful tip I picked up at new faculty orientation is to have students submit a Google form for excused absences, so you can keep track of them easily in large classes. Brilliant! Any other large class tips? I'll be teaching larger classes regularly now.

Oooh Michelle Janning's new book just arrived! I got to read this before it was published so I could write a blurb, it was really interesting, like all of Michelle Janning's books! And love the cover too.

Kicking off the weekend with an acceptance from the exceedingly efficient outgoing editorial team of Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World! 🎉 Alanna Gillis, PhD & I investigate how a seemingly race-neutral campus policy had racially disparate consequences (ft. Victor Ray). Stay tuned for “The Pact”!

My jamming group has a dude who moved his family from Texas to escape the politics. My writing group has another prof who just moved from Florida to escape the politics. And I moved from NC in major part because of the politics. I hope someone is studying this political migration
