Nous célébrons avec un peu de retard la semaine NAIDOC en honneur des peuples premiers d'Australie et nous proposons une projection gratuite du film « Sweet As » à Wallis. Projection en anglais sous-titré en francais ce mardi 11 septembre à 18h30 à la Médiathèque Café Fale.

C'est avec joie que je me suis entretenue avec FALAEO Veylma dans le cadre de ses nouvelles fonctions à la tête du Congrès NC. J’ai pu la féliciter d’être la première femme à présider l’institution et nous avons échangé sur nos collaborations à venir !

My team & I recently visited the island of Lifou to meet local authorities & assess the situation there following the unrest in New Caledonia. Here with the French High Commissioner’s delegate to the Loyalty Islands, Jules Hmaloko, & Province President, Jacques Lalié. Haut-commissariat en Nouvelle-Calédonie 🇫🇷

We also spoke to the customary authorities, beginning with the Customary Council of Drehu (Lifou). I was particularly honoured to meet Grand Chief Bula of Lossi district.

Here we are in the hut of the Grand Chief of Gaica and with the Chief of Xepenehe. In normal times, Xepenehe is one of the most popular places for Australian tourists visiting Lifou by cruise ship. Xepenehe also has an area called Parramatta, named by Aussie sandalwood traders!

We met the Mayor of Lifou, Neko Hnepeun, & key actors in the cruise ship industry in Lifou. Our sincere thanks to the Gendarmes, especially Capitaine Willy Be, for their support prior to & during our visit.

We’ve just landed Turkish Airlines at Sydney Airport. Starting from December 5, Turkish Airlines will run four direct flights a week between Istanbul and Sydney – and offering connections to the rest of the world.
