National rent control will destroy the incentive to build new housing. National food price controls on supermarkets, which only have few percent profit margin, means empty shelves, just like Venezuela.

America is being slowly strangled to death by an accumulation of millions of regulations. Tens of thousands of new rules are added every year, but very few are ever removed. Eventually, everything becomes illegal.

Sawyer Merritt SpaceX 2023 FCC: Claims that Starlink is not capable of providing high-speed Internet to thousands of people as the reason for revoking an $885M award to the company. 2024 FCC: Claims that Starlink provides so much high-speed Internet that the word monopoly should be tossed out there.

The fact humans are returning to space exploration, paid for by putting up a network of internet satellites and technically feasible due to reusable rockets that magically land on their rear ends, has to be one of the greatest business and engineering feats ever. This is history.

People in the US might gloat. There is a more informed reaction which is how fragile this environment is—fosters a cycle of risk capital, talent starting or joining companies, and an environment that supporting this. It can all be killed by heavy-handed government very quickly.

So much corruption in this town. We must root it all out. Cut the budget by 1-2 billion. Minimum. We’re the most wasteful city in America. These “grants” to “non-profits” are ineffective and mostly officials padding their and their friends pockets.

Even Ayn Rand would be amazed how the government is slowing down our most successful inventor - FAA delaying Starship launches - FCC refusing to work with Starlink, first claiming its incapable, then claiming its too good - President not commenting on the first private spacewalk

@jason In 2020, the FCC secured a commitment from Starlink to offer high-speed Internet to 640,000 rural locations for $1,300 per location in federal support. After revoking that award in 2023, the government is now spending in the ballpark & upwards of $100,000 per location in cases.

@jason All of this—the revocation, the regulatory harassment by numerous government agencies—followed the Biden-Harris Administration giving agencies the green light to go after Musk. You’re now subsidizing that campaign of regulatory harassment. x.com/brendancarrfcc…

AngelList is considering aggregating multiple fund-of-funds that want to invest $Xm+ into emerging managers that fit their thesis. There’s interest. Would this be useful?
