Happy birthday, rugby league! On 29th August 1895, the Northern Rugby Football Union was established at the George Hotel in Huddersfield.

Today also marks 25 years since Balmain played their last first-grade game as a standalone club. On 29 August 1999, the Raiders defeated the Tigers 42-12 at Bruce Stadium.
