Silver-washed Fritillaries in our garden at Harman's Cross, Swanage today. 2 males and a female. 1 of the males doing the mating dance by spiralling around the female. It worked, they mated shortly afterwards. Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Dorset Wildlife Trust Dorset Wildlife Spot Green Dorset BC Dorset 🦋
Peacock in our garden at Harman's Cross today. Getting a photo of the upperside is easy, but the almost black underside is usually not so easy. This one obliged! Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Dorset Wildlife Trust Dorset Wildlife Spot Green Dorset BC Dorset 🦋

This is the first Brown Argus I have seen this year. We spotted it on our Durlston (Swanage) transect yesterday. We have also noticed that Common Blues seem to be very scarce this year. Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Dorset Wildlife Trust Dorset Wildlife Spot Green Dorset BC Dorset 🦋

2 female Common Blue in our garden at Harman's Cross, but of very contrasting colours - one mostly brown, but the other mostly blue. It is quite hard to believe that they are both female of the same species. Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Dorset Wildlife Trust Dorset Wildlife Spot Green Dorset BC Dorset 🦋
Will this be our last Lulworth Skipper sighting at Durlston this year? - just 2 on our transect count. And a Wall Brown in our garden today at Harman's Cross - just the 2nd in our garden this year. Walking on Holton Heath today near Wareham we saw this Grayling. If I had not seen it fly and then land, I would not have spotted it, as it blended in so well with the path. It is the "The Master of Disguise". Butterfly Conservation 🦋 Dorset Wildlife Trust Dorset Wildlife Spot Green Dorset BC Dorset 🦋
