Billy Williams was traded to the Oakland A's #OTD in 1974. As designated hitter in 1975, he hit 23 home runs and drove in 81 runs and made his first career playoff appearance.

#OTD in 1945, Jackie Robinson signed with one of the Dodgers’ farm teams, the Montreal Royals. He played with the Royals in 1946 before debuting with the Dodgers the following year.

William Hulbert was instrumental in founding the National League in 1876 and he served as its president from 1877-1882. The Hall of Famer was born #OTD in 1832.

Jim Bunning threw no-hitters in both the American and National Leagues and was the second pitcher, after Cy Young, to win 100 games and collect 1,000 strikeouts in both leagues. He was born #OTD in 1931.

Joe Morgan’s ninth inning RBI single gave the Cincinnati Reds a 4-3 lead in Game 7 of the 1975 World Series #OTD . After Boston went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Cincinnati won the first of its two consecutive championships.

The Oakland A's won the 1972 World Series #OTD , the first of three straight titles. Oakland’s ’72 roster featured future Hall of Fame players Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson as well as manager Dick Williams.

In a game that started #OTD in 1975, Carlton Fisk’s 12th inning walk-off home run gave the Red Sox a 7-6 win in Game 6 of the World Series. The bat he used to hit the homer was borrowed from teammate Rick Burleson and is preserved at the Museum.
